I thought you would defend me no matter what. There were wonderful times in our relationship, but just when I needed you most, you turned me away. I wondered how I could have been injured so badly without the person I believed would always be there. I was sad and confused. I thought my hunt for the person I thought would always be there was done, and I felt hurt and lost.
I didn’t think I had the strength within me, but now I’m fighting for myself and standing up for myself. I do whatever it takes to survive because I understand that my story doesn’t give me an option. I’m over the person I felt was worth the trouble, and soon everything will be alright.
I don’t know if I will ever be able to forgive you for what you did to me, but thank you for giving me the route back to myself. I’m in a better place now, powerful and lovely and at last free. I think I was meant for this life, and I’m braver, stronger, and more daring than I ever imagined.
