Jon Jones vs Stipe Miocic

At the UFC 290 ceremonial weigh-ins, UFC president Dana White announced one of the most anticipated fights in UFC History. Jon Jones will be facing Stipe Miocic in New York at Madison Square Garden on November 11th, at UFC 295. Although this fight is long over due, it is nonetheless still exciting for the fans. Jon Jones who is considered by many to be the greatest Mixed martial artist of all time, came after a three year layoff and won the UFC Heavy weight title against one of the best strikers the UFC Heavy weight division has ever seen, Ciryl Gane.

He won the fight in the first round via a rear naked choke which saw the striking phenom tap. This cemented Jon Jones as the greatest fighter to ever live by those who still had doubts. Jon Jones’ record sits at 27-1-0 (1NC) having never lost a fight in his career. If you were wondering about the blemish in his record, it was due to disqualification. In addition to this, Jones has the most title defenses in the history of the UFC at the Light heavy weight division standing at 11 and the most UFC title fights at 15.

The man that Jones will be facing is no joke either. He is considered the greatest UFC Heavy weight champion of all time. With notable wins over Daniel Cormier (twice), Francis Ngannou, Alisteer Overeem, Fabricio Werdum and more, he is without a doubt one of the best to ever do it. The two time UFC Heavy weight champion has not fought since 2021 after suffering a loss to Francis Ngannou in their rematch. In addition to this, I think many can agree that Stipe is way past his prime and in the sport of MMA as with most sports any one over the age of 40 is considered old.

While Jon will be turning 36 this month and Stipe 41 in August, it will be interesting to see how it will all playout. Will Stipe cause an upset? Only time will tell.
