Richard Gere and Julia Roberts have an unmatched chemistry. Ever romantic comedy they are in together is electric. The film focuses on two individuals; Maggie Carpenter, a small town woman and Ike Graham, a New York columnist.
Ike writes a harsh article about Maggie without fact checking. He is fired for his inaccuracies and decides to travel to her town to do an in- depth research. He gets personally involved in her life. Maggie is known for leaving a trail of jilted grooms. She ran away from multiple weddings before saying ‘I do,’
Ike observes Maggie preparation for another wedding. He learns that she does not understand herself and molds her identity to suit the man that she is with. Maggie falls in love with Ike, calls off her wedding and proposes to Ike only to run away again from their wedding.
Maggie takes the time to figure herself out. She grows and morphs out her identity. She seeks out Ike, reunites with Ike and they get married on their own terms.
The movie is a great example of discovering yourself before getting into a relationship. The question to ask yourself is ” How do I like my eggs?”
