Vivian Ward is kind-hearted prostitute who is street smart. During her work at Hollywood Boulevard, she spots Edward driving a car crazily. She convinces him to let her take the reigns and drive the car to him to the hotel. He is impressed by her driving skills and hires her to his escort for the week.
Edward Lewis is a wealthy but emotionally distant businessman. They form a connection despite being from different worlds. Vivian undergoes a transformation both internally and externally. She gains self worth and confidence. Edward’s friends and business associates look down on her .

The original ending to the story was much darker and realistic . Edward and Vivian separate after the week ends. He pays her the agreed amount which Vivian and her friend, Kit use to go to Disney as a escape from their difficult lives. the ending was changed when Gary Marshall became the director.
