Matilda was a story written by Roald Dahl. It was later adapted into a film in 1996 and a musical in 2022. Matilda is a creative and imaginative girl. She is exceptionally intelligent girl who loves reading and learning but her family, The Wormwoods doesn’t not appreciate her special skills. Her parents are verbally abusive, selfish and neglectful. She finds comfort in getting lost in books and teaches herself to read far beyond her age.
Matilda starts school at Crunchem Hall, that is ruled by Miss Trunchbull, the cruel headmistress. She terrorizes the students with harsh punishments. Her father sold a car to the headmistress. She finds herself on the wrong side of Miss Trunchbull who already knows her as a difficult child according to her parents. She meets the kind and supportive teacher, Miss Honey who recognizes her brilliance.
Matilda discovers that she can move things with her mind(telekinesis ). She practices using her powers and devises a clever plan to stand up Miss Trunchbull. She uses her powers to scare Miss Trunchbull by pretending to be the ghost of Miss Honey’s dead father. With Miss Trunchbull gone, Miss Honey is able to reclaim her childhood home and gets the school. She adopts Matilda after her parents face legal trouble and decide to flee the country. Matilda finds the love and encouragement she deserves under Miss Honey guardianship.
Smart and intelligent children require mental stimulation in order to grow their skills and talents. Kindness and goodness will always be rewarded eventually. Imagination and curiosity is second to invention.
