The series is a show about a woman named Katie who tries to maintain her family values and identities amidst the pressure of the high societal standards of Westport.
Her being confident and apologetic and the modest living of the their family make them stand out. She navigates the challenges of raising her children in the affluent town filled with spoiled kids and pretentious housewives. Her husband, Greg Otto is a history professor. Their children, Taylor is a stubborn and athletic, Oliver is snarky and ambitious and Anna Kat is sweet but obsessive compulsive. The youngest is Katie’s obvious favorite.
Katie forms a close knit friend group with Doris( a rigid mother ) and Angela ( a lawyer with a calm demeanor). They call their group, the second breakfast. They meat at a cafe to confide in each other, get advice and gossip. The children grow and develop and fit in with the Westport community as the series continues.
