NAIROBI, KENYA- MARCH 4TH, 2025- A section of Kenyans took it online trashing remarks and political actions by former Prime Minister Raila Odinga that he will engage Kenyans before making any decision on whether to join President William Rut’s government or not.

The anti-Raila and anti-Ruto online campaigns from Kenyans and mostly the youthful generation has stirred the social media, many rubbishing what the two leaders say.

Raila, who unexpectedly lost the AU Chairmanship in a hotly contested election held recently in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia had promised Kenyans that he will conduct nationwide consultations before deciding on joining President Ruto’s government or not.

Fresh from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia where he was badly floored by Djibouti candidate Mohammed Ali Youssuf, who Kenyan supported, Raila met President William Ruto at Statehouse, Mombasa during the president’s five-day tour of the Coast region where he ‘launched development projects’

“I want to expand this broad-based government. We want to work with other political leaders so that we bring all Kenyans together,” said President William Ruto during the meeting.

Raila says he will issue an official statement to the public after the ongoing consultations.

Political leaders allied to President William Ruto have been pushing for the creation of a Prime Minister position to accommodate Raila after the shameful loss of the African Union Chairmanship that saw almost the entire political leadership camping in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia to celebrate Raila’s win only to return home empty handed.

However, Kenyans across the country celebrated Raila’s loss. A signal that angered president Ruto, saying Kenyans had lost patriotism.

Gen-Z protests

Raila has since appealed to Ruto’s government to compensate families who lost their loved ones during the June-July-Gen-Z protests.

“If Raila sailed through the AU Chairmanship, would he still be talking about the dozens of Gen-Z who were murdered in cold blood by the government? Later, Raila joined hands with Ruto and was even given four cabinet slots by the President. We are done with this political slavery?” The Gen-Z quickly rubbished Raila’s statement issued on Sunday in Mombasa.

Raila is scheduled to formally join the Kenya Kwanza Government in a capacity that is yet to be made public, as President William Ruto’s team is working day and night to unite the two in the Government.
