The movie is adapted from a 2003 novel with the same name by Lauren Weisberger. The novel inspiration is from her time working in Vogue magazine as an assistant to an editor. The movie premiered in June 2006 garnering a total of 326 million at the box office. It had a budget of 41 million and was filmed in New York, USA and Paris, France. The script was written by Aline Brosh McKenna. It was directed by David Frankel and produced by Wendy Finerman.
Andy, a freshly graduate young woman lands a job as an assistant to the editor in chief of a high fashion magazine in New York. Her boss Miranda Priestly is demanding and feared by the employees of the company. Andy dreams of becoming a journalist so she is willing to adhere to her boss every request and command no matter how crazy it seems. Her style and character changes and evolves throughout the movie hence her boyfriend notices. She and her boss become close as they works together.
Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep and Emily Blunt are some of the notable actors. Other performers are Stanley Tucci, Simon Baker, Tracie Thoms, Daniel Sunjata and Adrian Grenier. It is a comedy and a drama in one. If girl bossing gets overwhelming watching it can pick you right up. Whenever you feel people hate you can people walk on eggshells around Miranda.
