If you are an avid dark comedy fan, there is a chance you have come across the certain series. As fascinating as the title is, the series gives off the same energy leaving you wanting more. The events take place in the same house, during different periods of time. There are only two seasons. The series is written by Marc Cherry. It is categorized as a comedy drama. The series has a score of 67% on rotten tomatoes and 8.3/ 10 on IMDb.
As the title indicates, the series shows why some women kill. Some kill for love, others kill for revenge and for pleasure and fame. The women portrayed in the series are purely fictional. The sequences of events that lead to the deaths is fascinating and unpredictable.
Season 1

The catchy theme song is L-O-V-E , performed by Michael Feinstein. The song was originally recorded in 1964 by Nat King Cole for his 1965 studio album. It was written by Milt Gabler and Bert Kaempfert. The intro will have you hooked to the plot.
The events take place in the same mansion but during different years. In 1963, the Stantons, Beth Anne(Ginnifer Goodwin) and Rob (Sam Jaeger) move into the said house after the death of their daughter. They are welcomed into the neighbourhood by the Sheila and Leo Mosconi. Leo recognizes Rob and tells his wife Sheila about it. Sheila informs Beth Anne that Rob is having an affair with a waitress. They become friends as Sheila helps Beth Anne win back her husband. She goes to confront the mistress, April but she abandons the idea. She instead decides to befriend April and convince her to leave her husband, She does so under a false identity. She goes by Sheila, a widow. The rest of her story is full of deceit, twists and turns and some feel good moments.
In 1984, Simone Grove(Lucy Liu) is hosting a house warming party after the interior design is completed. She interacts with her guests mostly her best friend Naomi. Her best friend tells her that people don’t like her because her life is better than everybody else. Simone goes to seek comfort in her husband, Karl Grove( Jack Davenport). She discovers a mysterious envelope that contains compromising pictures of her husband with another man. In anger, Simone tries to kick him out but he fakes suicide. In desperation, Simone has sex with 18 year old Tommy after he confesses his love for her. Simone and Karl later come into an agreement about their relationship.
In 2019, married couple Taylor Harding( Kirby Howell- Baptiste) and Eli Cohen( Reid Scott) decide to include a Jade into their relationship making them a throuple. Jade was originally Taylor’s girlfriend. Taylor invites Jade into the house after rescuing her from her stalker ex-boyfriend. Eli is attracted to Jade and convinces Taylor to let them have a three way. They all agree. Eli has a writer’s block and Jade gives him ADHD medication to help him. Taylor later informs Jade that Eli is a recovering drug addict. Eli relapses leading to disagreements in their relationship.
Season 2
The events take place in 1949. The theme song is composed by Steve Jablonsky. It has 10 episodes.
Alma Fillcot (Allison Tolman), ‘plain jane’ housewife wants to fit in with the ‘it’ crowd of her town. She longs to be invited to the exclusive parties and gatherings of the gardening club. The death of the founder of the gardening club is announced thus an opening is confirmed. She approaches the club members at a hotel during lunch hence making an impression. Alma is invited to a party which she later discovers is a fundraising party. In search for materials to make her dress in the attic, she finds a mysterious box hidden in the cracks of the wall. The box contains knick -knacks with a date attached to it. She decides to wear a brooch that she found. A club member recognizes the brooch
Betram Fillcott is a beloved veterinary doctor. He stores knick knacks of his expeditions in the attic. Their daughter Dee is unlucky in love but her luck changes one day. She meets Vern, a private detective who vibes with her.
Vern is hired by Rita Castillo, a married woman to follow her lover and determine who he is having an affair with. This season has many plot twists. It shows a serial killer in the making.
I enjoyed season 1 more than season 2. The change in the decades’ fashion threw me off
