Stagnation can at times be a gift because it forces you to reflect with sincerity of heart where you were, where you are, and where you would like to go.
Motion that is devoid of rest, reflection, re-evaluation and recalibration is directionless motion. And directionless motion means one can be swayed to wherever the wind is moving. Wherever the tangent is going. Whatever society dictates which is a dangerous place to be because you lose yourself.
In life, there are principles by which life operates on. We are meant to pick the principles and customize it to ourselves. Yes, society suggests things but then you have to filter them with your values and pick what works well for you. Unfortunately, you won’t be able to do this, if you don’t have a direction you are taking in life. That is why most times, when you are just going through the motions and you have lost your north, nature has a way of sometimes bringing it all down to force you to go back to your north. To recalibrate. And although sometimes the circumstances by which it was all brought down can be devastating, it is important to realize that you needed to be stopped. Otherwise, you would have just kept going and ended up in a much worse place.
Hence, sometimes stagnation comes just to give you a wake-up call. To rest probably and reflect, re-examine your life and move forward in a better way. In the journey of life, remember to always check your true north.
