You are worth more than the temporary things you pursue to bring you solace.
It’s easier to reach for something to stop the pain, the sorrow, the disappointment, as fast as possible, than it is, to deal with the feelings and emotions that come with it. It’s easier to grab a pill to cure a headache that you know for certain is caused by some stress you are dealing with, than to deal with the issue at hand. And many times, it just requires you calm your thoughts; your mind in order to think clearly. To come up with a well thought out solution.
Many times, as human beings we think that when we get that thing: the job, the car, the marriage, etc. then we will find peace. That we will find refuge in that thing. Whether consciously or subconsciously, then you get there and realize that there are other hurdles to conquer. New levels new hurdles. That life is not a destination, nobody necessarily arrives and those who think they have, it is only but a matter of time before something throws them off balance.
The essence of life is living; discovering, learning, un-learning, re-learning, resting, working it’s not a destination. Life is a process. We are conceived, we form, we are developed, we are born, we are nursed, we continue developing, we are nurtured, we mature and through all this stages there is a process ongoing. And even when we become mature; adults, we continue with other processes. The essence of life is living and it involves all the processes of growth: physically, mentally, emotionally, financially, relationally, socially, psychologically, spiritually, etc. You realize then, that no one has arrived in all these aspects of life because that is not what life is all about. For instance, financially, we’ve seen billionaires who continue to venture into other areas because life; you live it. It is not a destination.
Anyone with the ‘‘I have arrived mentality’’, often always is overtaken by time. We’ve seen individuals, companies, countries, kingdoms, that dominated at one point or another that crumbled. And when you investigate, you will find that changes came and they refused to adapt or innovate in order to navigate the times. So, nature sort of pushed them into oblivion. Not that they can’t re-invent but it takes more effort and the average individual won’t have the tenacity to do so.
Your worth comes from who you, are not what you have or what you do, because the rule in life is that change has to happen. It is inevitable. And when things change the only guarantee you have is who you are.
