Every year end or quarterly, companies, organizations, usually do an evaluation. These evaluations usually help them gage if they are still aligned to their vision and mission. It also helps them check that they have achieved their goals and met their expectations. In addition to the above it helps them forge forward with a good idea on how to progress.
As individuals it is important to do the same, to evaluate our lives every other time not just at the end of the year to set new year resolutions as many do. Yearly evaluations are good, in fact they are important but also a year is way too long to ignore yourself. Meaning, a whole 365 days, 52 weeks, or 12 months.
It is about being regular with your self-evaluations and they don’t even have to always have a set structure, they could look like asking yourself how am I doing generally? Or how am I doing today? Self-evaluations are not just important for oneself it helps even with close relationships. You may be needing a breather and probably need to call a friend and go for a coffee date but if you don’t self-evaluate you won’t know. When you realize for example, that you are not okay, you could take a rain check on that event so that you don’t always feel like you need to be somewhere you are not comfortable being at that given moment in time.
